Best movie posters ever.

These are 4 separate posters. How cool is this?? (Note the reflections in the eyes of the crew!) Click each for a larger version.

villain Nero (Eric Bana) Uhura (Zoe Saldana)
Mr. Spock (Zachary Quinto) James T. Kirk (Chris Pine)

Thanks for sharing the love [info]gdg. As expected, Quinto is perfect as Spock.

I heard a rumor that Paramount will have these at their Comic Con booth but will only be giving one per person. I want the set! What a great design. Love it.

But wait ... there's more!

Dear Joey,

You spoke, and we listened. We are keeping Profiles. Thank you for all the calls and emails telling us how important Profiles are.

We are sorry for any inconvenience we may have caused. We hope the next time you hear from us we will delight, and not disappoint, you.

-Your friends at Netflix

[info]unclesully told me one of his friends got a similar email so I checked their site for confirmation and I found this blog. THIS is the type of response I expected from Netflix. Yay!

I'm so disappointed that you will be eliminating Profiles, the feature that allowed me to set up separate DVD Queues under one account. It was one of my favorite features of Netflix. It allowed my young daughter to search Netflix and manage her own queue. Under her login, movie suggestions were all geared toward her and she was able to rate movies independently. Separate ratings are a great bonus because I might not have the same fondness for something like My Favorite Martian as she does. It also allowed me to set restrictions on her account so that inappropriate movies aren't even available to her. Netflix suggested that I set restrictions on my own account but I find that solution to be unacceptable. As an adult, I still want to have access to movies that I wouldn't allow my child to watch. I really hope you will reconsider this change.

I feel that you're doing a disservice to your members. And as a member who owns a Mac instead of PC, I'm already at a disadvantage because I'm unable to use the "watch instantly" feature. Please let us keep Profiles, or at least make your site fully functional to Mac users.

Thank you.

JL

Maybe they'll get enough letters like this and reconsider their change. One can hope :(

I've been listening to Pandora radio all day. I need to get a phone that works with this, then I wouldn't even need an iPod anymore. It's so awesome.

I set up a couple radio stations based on random bands. I wasn't sure some of these would even be listed.

I started off with one of my all-time faves: My Life With Thrill Kill Kult which came right up. It was followed by Front 242, NIN, KMFDM, Massive Attack, you name it. The goodness kept on coming.

Then I selected something different and more down-tempo and started a new radio station based on Supreme Beings of Leisure. Emiliana Torrini was next in line. I got all kinds of similar stuff, half of which I'd never ever heard before. So cool!

Next I'm thinking, maybe I'll pick a band they don't have eventually so I throw in MC 900 Foot Jesus. They had it. And then Fat Cat comes on next by Amorphous Androgynous, followed by Future Sounds of London. OMG. Maybe this has been around for a while but it's new to me. I'm in love.

For those of you who've never heard of Pandora before, enjoy!

Sensible solutions for desperate times.

A little help for my friend.

Cross-posted for [info]venacava. If you're in LA and can help, please do!!

As some of you have heard by now, Daniel and I were in a very bad car wreck on Sunday night. A van ran a stop sign and totaled D’s car as a result. Moo was in the car and was left miraculously unharmed, but ran away from the scene, terrified. More details here. She has no microchip nor tags on her.

We’ve been checking shelter websites and posting fliers all over the neighborhood but it’s not enough - the city of Hollywood has something called the Hollywood Clean Team that’s in charge of removing postings from major streets and intersections and they seem to think our little fliers are an eyesore.

Others seem to think it’s a great idea to call me at 7:30 am and say they found my dog, then hang up while their buddies laugh hysterically in the background. People are incredibly fucking cruel and I’m starting to feel a little sick every time my phone rings.

I know that tons of you have re-posted my call for help online - the amount of compassion and concern Moo’s receiving is the only encouraging thing that’s come of this ordeal. Thank you all so, so much.

This case requires physical action from those of you in Los Angeles. Please, print a stack of these posters and tape/staple them to light and electric posts when you can. D and I are doing as much as possible but are also injured and therefore slow.

My hope is that someone has taken Moo in and will return her to me when they see how badly she is missed. Thank you all again and please send all kinds of positive thoughts her way!

I normally don't try to enter contests but I would really love to see Eddie Vedder at Spreckles.

94.9FM is having a contest. You send 100 words or less why they should give you tickets to see him. Here's mine.

In 1989 I lived next door to a guy in a band called Bad Radio. His name was Eddie. He told me about his camping trip with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and how they played music around the fire. So cool. He gave me a demo tape (which I still have) and used to invite me to his shows. Unfortunately they played in bars. Not being 21, I never got to see them play. Then he moved to LA. I thought that was the end until I discovered a band from Seattle with a singer who was eerily similar.

It was hard to limit to 100 but I used every one of them. lol

I remember throwing clothes into a basket whenever I'd see him head for the laundry room, just so I had a chance to talk to him. It was totally innocent. I tried not to be an annoying fangirl. I had a boyfriend at the time and he had a girlfriend but he'd tell me about shows and I loved hearing his stories. I remember one time he was super stoked to be opening for Blondie. It was like a big break for them. Can you imagine? haha.

I showed him my portfolio once, hoping he'd ask me to do a cover for him. He said he loved my work but that was also around the time he moved to LA. I always thought how cool it would have been if I actually designed a cover for them. Oh well. It would be really cool to see him in such a small venue. I hope I win.

Tickets

Our printer offered me a couple tickets to see the Lakers vs. Spurs on April 13th. I've never been to a basketball game so I say sure, what the hell.

I just looked up the tickets to see if I could get an idea of where the seats were and where Staples Center is. I found similar seats, Section 107, Row 14, Seats 20 & 21 ... but $458 each?! Whoa.

They look like they're in a decent spot, not center court but hopefully we'll get a good view of the basket?

I'm actually getting excited about this now. The only suck part is that the game is at 12:30pm so we either leave early Sunday morning or drive up in the evening and stay overnight. I'm tempted to do the latter so that I can have breakfast at Grub. Mmmm.

Speaking of tickets ... I forgot to mention that I got a smokin' deal on a Cats (6/5) / Phantom (7/24) bundle. Presale tickets were almost half off TicketBastard prices thanks to GoldStar. Zoe loves musicals, theater, cats and ghosts so I think she'll get a kick out of these. Shh.

Amazon purchased J.K. Rowling’s The Tales of Beedle the Bard at Sotheby’s for a whopping £1,950,000. That's $3.8 million to us Yanks. Rowling is donating the proceeds to a charity she co-founded to help improve the lives of institutionalized children across Europe. Neat.

Best of all ... Amazon posted lots of pics of the book and story reviews here. Enjoy!

(888) 929-3282

A couple weeks ago I got a call from Experian asking for verification about my business. I told them I don't have a business anymore. Technically it's true because, although I bought a business license a couple years ago, I never had enough free time to actually run my own business so I gave up on the idea and never renewed the license.

Regardless of that fact, I wouldn't be comfortable answering questions from someone about my business or credit who I can't identify. And besides, if they're using business data from the city where I purchased my license, it's really old.

This morning I missed a call from 888-929-3282. I didn't recognize it as being the same until I Googling it. It seems there are a lot of complaints about Experian trying to offer small business services. Many of the people aren't even businesses which leads me to believe that Experian might be getting data from the WHOIS database. Especially since my business info is so outdated. Is that even legal? Especially with the "Do Not Call" registry of which I'm a member.

I don't think it's appropriate for Experian to use this as an avenue for telemarketing their business services. Especially since people may only take the call because they're worried about their credit being compromised. Why else would Experian be calling out of the blue??

Anyway I called them back and asked to be removed from future solicitations. Hopefully it works.

omg. omg. squee :)
